2020
MedLaunch began in 2020 as a simple idea shared between four students in various disciplines at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Working late nights and challenging each other to think bigger, we realized that we weren’t just building a project, we were building a vision. MedLaunch was born from a belief that engineering, accessibility, and healthcare could come together to improve our community in a tangible way. What started as a small group project quickly evolved into something far more meaningful, a shared mission to turn innovation into real-world impact.

2021-2022
We became an official registered student organization(RSO) at UIUC.
Shortly after, in 2022, we became a part of the Siebel Center for Design resident program(now known as The Clubhouse), marking a major step in our growth.
We began the school year with four small team projects, which quickly evolved into a collaborative effort focused on building projects that expand accessibility and better serve our community as an RSO at the University of Illinois.
2024
We’ve grown to six teams of 10–12 members each, bringing our community to over 70 active members and more than 50+ alumni.
Our work now spans partnerships with organizations across Illinois, expanding our impact and reach. We’ve also established a strong presence in initiatives like Engineering Council and Engineering Open House, while securing funding from a range of local organizations to support and sustain our projects.

TODAY
We’ve built strong relationships with partners such as the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, Stratton Academy of the Arts, and Champaign-Urbana Medical Moms.
These collaborations provide valuable mentorship and help guide our work in meaningful ways. As we continue to grow, we are focused on deepening our community partnerships while also expanding into new relationships with organizations and industry leaders, both locally and beyond.
